NYC Bloggers Spice It Up

The day I came back to San Francisco from my two week East Coast vacation was the day my mom left to go to NYC on business. I wanted to stay and bum around in her hotel for three days, but as no clean clothes were to be found inside my suitcase I decided to get on my original flight and head home. She called me this evening saying "I am in love with this city and I can definitely see myself living in a penthouse with a balcony facing Central Park." Like mother, like daughter.
Up until two weeks ago I was firm on coming back to San Francisco for the internship as well as upon graduation, but now I am not so sure. There is something about New York that pulls you in and makes you an addict. I want more. I cannot get enough. I guess only time will tell, I might change my mind if I re-visit this topic in the middle of January.
The NYC Blogger gathering was a blast. I am not really sure how to compare it to the SF event since one was all about beer and burritos while the other featured vodka tonics, scotch, and fancy finger foods. Beer and dive bars loosen up people a bit more than fancy cocktails and trendy joints, hence the craziness of the San Francisco gig. That being said, I had a lot of fun meeting the East Coast bloggers.
It was great to see MBACutie again, even though she DID sneak out pretty early in the night. Redwolf056 was an even earlier departure, but I will give him props for moving on to yet another drinking event as opposed to just going home to bed. I hope we didn't scare Vikram, who was keeping quiet throughout the evening, from applying to schools next year. MBAformein08 has long been promising to introduce me to some cute and single consulting boys, yet none were to be found when we moved our party from the Spice Market to Serena to crash her friend's "Goodbye NYC, Hello HBS" party. Sad! I guess I will have to do my own dirty work. I am still trying to figure out ways to get Whereismydessert to stay in New York and go to Stern so that we can share the pools of eligible B-School men amongst ourselves. The girl has an excellent taste in desserts, as you might have already guessed. MBAJackass impressively knew every word to every rap song, though sadly he skipped out prior to seeing the rendition of Baby Got Back that MBAformein08 and I put on for QZoink, who had amazingly escaped from ever hearing this brilliant anthem until that day!
I was shocked to learn that NYC required its bars and clubs to obtain cabaret licenses if they want their patrons to be able to shake their bon bons. That is pretty ridiculous. What is the harm in some dancing?

great post marina. I definitely agree that New York has the certain something that draws young folks to it, especially if they have an interest in Bus/Fin!! But I think I would eventually miss the chill Cali attitude. But I think NY is a great starting point.

Did you get my mail btw?

Hey Christian,

I have a feeling I will start missing Cali, I am just not sure how long it will be until that occurs.

I did get your email. Give me a few days and I will write back.

If everyone talks, who will hear :P - just kidding.
See you in Fall - may be that time you might say - aaah may be he is not that silent :)

May be to get a dance floor for the bar, need a licence. But otherwise did see some people dancing(may be but they seem to be not steady :D).

Cabaret license...maybe that's why the security at the LABA party pulled us off the tables. Nah, I'm still going with the fact that we were wearing too much clothes.

The blogger event sounded great. Maybe there will be post or mid MBA blogger events once we start. I will leave it up to MBA Cutie to organize those. ;) I am in SoCal now but when I move up to Berkeley I will be more in the mix with other bloggers. Or at least I hope.
