Open House - the day after

It was heavenly to be able to sleep in on the rainy Saturday morning. Knowing there was a long night ahead, we decided to take it easy during the day and go back to Bloomies for some shopping after having a late brunch at Nice Matin on 79th Street.

In the evening we joined a bunch of our future classmates at West for a $30 Open Bar gathering. Within half an hour I got my money's worth and obviously did not stop there. After a few hours of drinking and mingling it was time for late night pizza, followed by a cab ride to a party/gathering hosted by one of the 1st year's where we had some more drinks, pizza, and mingling. My liver has been enjoying these last few days in Boston as I have only been averaging about one drink a night.

I forgot to mention the strange vending machine I came across while roaming the halls in between Open House events. In case you forget your iPod at home one day, you can purchase one at school along with a Twizzler and even an iTunes card to load up on some music. I tried to buy the $15 iTunes card for the indicated price of 40cents but the machine demanded an additional $14.60. LAME!

I neglected to mention a few interesting facts I learned from Pete Slosberg at Friday's lunch. Did you guys know that the drinking straw was first invented to facilitate beer drinking? I had no clue. How about the fact that drinking beer through the straw does not get you drunk faster? WHAT??? Yes, I was that girl who brought her own straws to the frat parties in college.

Haha, that's too funny! I wonder who goes to school and is like, "OMG, I forgot to bring my ipod shuffle, 2 floppy disks and my D batteries!!! Thank goodness for the vending machine!"

See ya tomorrow! =o)

if by "straw" you mean beer bong, I can testify that straw will get you drunk faster, in like 2 seconds

I never understood the whole get drunk faster thing. Beer is beer right? No matter the mode of consumption?

Pomegranite Lemon Drop drink specials at West...mmmm, delish. I didn't think they had much alcohol in them until I was sitting on the bathroom floor at that 1st year's apt. trying to make my head stop spinning. Maybe it was that second slice of pizza and the ketchup flavored potato chips.

Gr8eat write ups!

I agree that the sales pitch was too much, it seemed like 90% of the people that I met were committed.

What did you think about "guided missle" at the career panel? That guy cracked my sh*t up.

Hey --

I use a Thinkpad T42 at school. I found it to be the right balance of size and weight (screen big enough to get work done and not squint all the time, while not being the 20-pound brick in my backpack)

It's also a lot sturdier than the Dells that seem to be commonly found around campus. (It's actually about a fairly even split here.)

Some of us actually got our Thinkpads through some deal that (I think) the CBS class of 2006 negotiated for its members.

I heard about those vending machines! Crazy stuff... Personally, I'm a fan of traditional vending machines (I avoid the ones with "real" food- they creep me out), though I can't blame you for trying to get the iTunes card!

Re: FFF comment about committing to Wharton - yeah, that is incorrect. Unless Alex knows something I don't. ;o)
