Snow in October?

Hello global warming! I am not talking a few random snowflakes either. As if it wasn't bad enough that it was freezing and I was up at 7am on a Sunday morning on my way to play some paintball at Skirmish. My first time playing and I am happy to report many kills along with many bruises. Unfortunately I wasn't smart enough to think ahead and realize that it was not very smart to play five days before Fall Ball but it is too late and I can only hope that my dress and makeup will cover up the majority of the quarter sized blue/green marks all over my body (I am probably making is sound way worse than it really is but how often does a girl get the chance to go to prom a second time???). Anyhow - paintball kicked ass and I cannot wait to go again.
The two finals have passed and there is no more Managerial Statistics and Strategy Formulation. Those two courses have been replaced by Marketing Strategy and CEO (Creating Effective Organizations). The CEO prof is awesome - we boo and hiss at people who come in late and the material is actually pretty interesting and engaging.
Halloween Happy Hour was last Thursday. Each cluster had a theme costume and was to perform a skit for 4 minutes in front of the judges (part of the Cluster Cup Competition). Our concept was the Richard Simmons workout and we had three routines in our skit including Quantitative Crunch (with exercises like Crunch n'Squat and Left,Right - Debit Credit), The Recruiting Workout (featuring Lunge n'Beg & Meet n'Greet) and finally Social Sweat (with Pump n'Chug). It was AWESOME and we were tied in first place with Cluster B who did a spoof on Austin Powers. Here is a little visual treat of Cluster E as Richard Simmons...

I posted this on my blog but i thought i'd reply to you here too:

There's a little bit of quant, but so far, it seems to be easier quant, and with the case analysis for the most part (we have to write a case about a real-world problem). I haven't gotten to my project yet, so i'm still doing qualitative analysis.

Also, a lot of the marketing electives I hear are more quantitative. This is more qualitative analysis (and using some numbers that you plug into a model).

PepsiCo's LDP is a really sweet program. However, I'm an Ops guy but I'm def interested in working with their distribution network.

It is amazing the way time alternately flies and drags. I was just thinking today, it has been ages since marina posted a new blog entry... Wrong! It has only been two weeks, but with work and the insane school schedule it seems like a month and a half has gone by. Umm... this wasn't listed in the bcemba program recruiting material.

BTW, Thanks for the good wishes on the tests. It worked for Organizational Behavior. Unfortunately, I'm going to need you to double up the good wishes for the Macroecon final. :-(

Finals already?! It's strange that each school has such different schedules. Ours are at the beginning of next month.

Did you go for the Stern-Columbia mixer last night?

Yooohooo... you there? Say something... let us know our favorite MBA blogger is still there.

Finals for us were sad... LOL

Here are my recommendations for Columbia profs from this semester:

Toshi Shibano (Managerial Accounting) -- nice guy, great lecturer, straight shooter, don't hestitate to sign up for a class he is teaching.

Tony Webster (Decision Models) -- nice guy, straight shooter, ok lecturer, not a guy to avoid, but no strong recommendation for, either.

Christos I. Giannikos (Business Finance) -- nice guy, seemed to care, but was exceptionally ineffective at teaching. He would launch into an hour of working through calculations on the board before talking about why a particular calculation might be interesting to perform. He took a pretty straightforward subject and confused most of the class with his presentation of it.
